Happy Saturday! J and I started ours off with some paintball. It was a first time for both of us and I had a blast. Of course around 12:00 it started to get pretty hot. That’s Texas for you. Other than one nasty bruise/welt I came out mostly unscathed. I did end up with blue paint in my hair. Luckily I rocked a little side front braid that helped protect my head. Surprisingly I had a lot of fun. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy getting shot at. I’m not sure I’m enjoying this bruise, but it’s not so bad. J’s coworkers and boss made for great company. A huge thanks goes out to his awesome boss for treating everyone. Thank you Simon!

On to the review! For awhile I’ve had my eye on the Coconut Porter from Maui Brewing Company. I have a slight obsession with all things coconut. Being that a 4-pack was almost $10 it was a splurge for us. Well sadly I don’t think it was worth the splurge. Don’t get me wrong it was a delicoius porter, but I didn’t even get a hint of coconut. I enjoyed it very much, just wish for the price I had actually gotten a hint of coconut flavor. I’m going to have to keep searching for another coconut beer to satisfy my (newly created) craving. I would definitely be interested in trying other beers from Maui Brewing Company. Maybe a pumpkin beer? I’m dying for a pumpkin beer. Sadly I have placed an arbitrary limit on myself. Not until the high is 90 degrees or lower will I buy or bake anything pumpkin. Boo Texas! Hurry up and let autumn swoop upon us.
Readers: Any good beer recommendations for me? I’m happy to try anything!

Hello! My name is Karen, I’m 26 and currently live in Austin, Texas with my husband. When I’m not working as a nanny, you can usually find me in the kitchen. This blog is where I share my love of cooking, nutrition, and domestication. I'll share my favorite recipes, how-to-photos, and any tips and tricks I pick-up along the way. I hope this blog inspires others to spend more time in the kitchen cooking delicious food. While I strive for optimal nutrition, I also love to bake. I've recently got gluten free and dairy free, as well as refocused my diet on mostly plant based nutrients with high-quality meats for protein. I hope this blog inspires others to get back into the kitchen.
